A sound collage by Willehad Grafenhorst

mezzogiorno was part of the exhibition Über Schatten Springen (Jumping Over Shadows) at the BLMK (Brandenburg State Museum of Fine Arts) in Cottbus.

The sound collage is based on a twelve-hour soundtrack of documentary footage from the Gaza Strip, recorded in 2024 and 2025.
The original sound recordings were processed with ‘intelligent’ filters so that no voices, explosions, drones, aeroplanes, gunshots or tank engines can be heard, except when the filters fail.
